Rococo is delighted to be hosting an ongoing selection from the STILL ETHICAL collection in store. Visit on Saturdays 10.30 to 6 to view these exceptional handmade garments.
Exploration on the history of textiles led Sophie to India, with its rich heritage in the production of hand-made fabrics and clothing. With traditional skills and techniques increasingly being lost, Still… aims to promote these dwindling crafts by working in close collaboration with a number of individual producers in India. Through partnerships with an organic farm, social development groups and small production houses, Sophie creates a small collection of unique and beautifully executed pieces that combine her creative flair with traditional textile skills. Each season sees a range of one-off and limited edition pieces, as well as a classic range of pieces which are always available.
Current collaborations:
- hand-loom organic cotton and indigo from a small family run farm in Karnataka;
- traditional hand embroidery from Lucknow from a women’s cooperative which works to promote empowerment of underprivileged women;
- hand-spun and woven natural sheep’s wool made by the nomadic Bhutia tribe;
- hand wood-block prints on hand-loomed linen; and
- hand-woven silk ikats made by master weavers.
